Thomas and his older ...My great-grandfather John W. Thomas and his older brother Isham Weathersby Thomas fought with Stanford's Battery. John W. was present at Shiloh having enlisted at the same time as John P. Nowell above. Isham enlisted in May of 1862 at Corinth after Shiloh. Perhaps he wanted to keep an eye on his younger brother. Both survived the war and were present at the formal surrender at Citronelle, Alabama and subsequent parole at Meridian.
